Nadine Hughes is a vibrant entrepreneur with a sharp business mind, a theatrical presence and a memorable cooking style. With a traditional background as a senior sales and marketing executive in the third party logistics, consumer packaged goods and retail industry, Nadine has fused her passion for food and entertaining with her business skills. The Cook's Companion is Nadine's second start up company after having successfully started and operated a third party logistics company, e-fill Pty Ltd. in Australia with her husband and business partner which they sold to Shell Petroleum in 2005. Since then Nadine has transformed her love of sharing good food with friends and family into a successful reality.
As a cooking instructor, food writer, television personality and guest speaker, Nadine brings with her a wealth of experience in what people want to eat, how they want to cook and how they want to share it. Nadine teaches children, teens and adults simple, quick and healthy meals all with the flair of showmanship. Her clients continually look to her for inspiration whether it is through her classes, her published articles, well-read blog, or her willingness and ability to answer their cooking and entertaining “emergency questions” at any hour of the day.
In addition to her cooking classes, Nadine is a freelance food writer with a monthly column on food and entertaining that is carried by numerous online magazines, has a well read food blog (www.cookscompanionchats.blogspot.com), a monthly newsletter and recipe of the week with readership in excess of 1500 people and makes regular appearance as a food and entertaining expert on local and national television. In striving to continually provide her clients with new and exciting services, Nadine also offers through The Menu Companion, comprehensive menu planners for home entertaining that focus on the planning and preparation of dinner parties. She is also working on her first cooking and entertaining book due out in late 2009.
Having lived in Australia for 5 years as well as having traveled to over 30 countries Nadine's cooking style reflects her cosmopolitan background. Even more importantly as a busy mother of two small children, Nadine understands how difficult it can be to raise a family, work outside the home and still make time for a family meal let alone prepare for a dinner party. Nadine's passion for bringing food and friends together is contagious and she looks forward to passing it on to you!
